Welcome to the 'WrestleHer' project showcase—a poignant documentary series that chronicles the extraordinary journeys of seven high school girls in Ohio wrestling their way through a field that, during the time of production, was not sanctioned for female athletes in the state. These trailblazers competed directly with male opponents, fighting not only to win on the mat but also for broader recognition and acceptance in the world of wrestling. Though the sport has recently received official sanctioning for female athletes in Ohio, 'WrestleHer' stands as an indelible record of the struggles and triumphs these young women faced when the landscape was less accommodating. Created with a synthesis of investigative journalism and rich storytelling, this series delves deep into issues of gender roles, societal norms, and the invincible spirit required to break barriers. It serves as both a tribute to and an intimate exploration of athletes who are as resilient in the face of social prejudice as they are in their sporting pursuits.

Initially joining the 'WrestleHer' production team as a Sound Mixer, my role quickly expanded to encompass much more. Recognizing my expertise and versatility, I was promoted to take on the responsibilities of Camera Operator and Cinematographer for the series. This journey took me across different states, allowing me the privilege of closely following and capturing the lives of these incredible young athletes. I employed a range of filming techniques to bring their stories to life, including the use of gimbals for stabilized, dynamic shots and handheld cameras to capture raw, unfiltered moments. My days often involved long hours, but the fulfillment of documenting these young women's triumphs and struggles made every minute worthwhile. In essence, my multi-faceted involvement in 'WrestleHer' stands as a testament to my adaptability and commitment to cinematic storytelling.
